Code of Conduct for Directors.

A director, employee, or other officer:

PROVIDE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT. Create an environment and atmosphere in which social safety is guaranteed and experienced.

IS SERVICEABLE. Always act in the interests of the association or other legal entity and focus on the interests of the members and/or affiliates.

IS OPEN. Act as transparently as possible, so that it is easy to be accountable and to understand the actions and motives.

IS RELIABLE. Observes rules, including the statutes, regulations and decisions of the (inter)national association, and agreements. Information is used for the purpose of the organisation. Declares that confidential information will not be used for personal gain or for the benefit of others. 

IS CAREFUL. Acts with respect and puts equal treatment first. Interests are weighed correctly. Is careful and sincere when stating experience and functions. Handles confidential information carefully and correctly. Understands the chosen direction by giving reasons for decisions made by the board. 

AVOIDS THE (APPEARANCE OF) CONFLICTS OF INTEREST. Does not hold any other positions that are, or could be, in conflict with his/her position and does not enter into any financial interest that could be in conflict with his/her position. Discusses the intention of assuming a secondary function or a financial interest in an organisation with those responsible. Makes a declaration of financial interests in other organisations and of ancillary positions. Indicates whether the additional functions are paid or unpaid. Avoids the appearance of favouritism in collaborative forms and relationships, which would be in conflict with fair competition.
Does not accept gifts or donations intended to provide a personal advantage. Does not give any gifts or offer any services worth more than EUR 1,000 on account of his position, other than in consultation with other board members, and does not make any promises to do or refrain from doing anything. Reports gifts and gratuities of more than EUR 100 received or given in connection with the function.

ACTS AS AN EXAMPLE TO OTHERS AND REFRAINS FROM BEHAVIOUR AND REMARKS THAT BRING THE SPORT INTO DISREPUTE. Behaves in a courteous and respectful manner and refrains from offensive and/or insulting remarks. 

WILL MAKE INTENSIVE EFFORTS TO ENSURE THAT ALL ATHLETES AND SUPERVISORS ARE BOUND BY THE RELEVANT RULES, INCLUDING THE DOPING REGULATIONS, THE SEXUAL INTIMIDATION REGULATIONS, THE MATCH-FIXING REGULATIONS AND THE MANAGEMENT REGULATIONS ON ALCOHOL IN SPORTS CANTEENS. Athletes and supervisors must be bound to apply, for example, disciplinary law. In addition, the governing body is responsible for drawing up rules of conduct for its own club, together with members, trainers and parents.

TAKES (REPORTS OF) IMPROPER AND OR TRANSGRESSIVE BEHAVIOUR SERIOUSLY. Makes an effort to make and keep the subject of integrity open for discussion. Ensures a certain degree of alertness in the organisation for inappropriate and/or transgressive behaviour. Stimulates the reporting of undesirable behaviour. Takes adequate action against violations of rules and standards by athletes, employees, supporters and others.

CONTINUES to get involvedwith other employees, functionaries, contractors, suppliers, sponsors, etc.
Tries
to achieve a situation in which the sports organisation acts internally and externally with persons and organisations of irreproachable behaviour. Verifies whether a staff member is of irreproachable behaviour, requests a Certificate of Good Behaviour (VOG) and performs research in relation to the intended function. Investigates business partners, etc.

IS AWARE OF THE RISKS OF MATCHFIXING AND ACTS CAREFULLY. Will not bet on the sport in which he/she is involved and will not provide information, which has not been made public, about a match or an aspect of a match to bookmakers or others in which he/she is involved and the information has not been made public.

OVERSEE COMPLIANCE WITH RULES AND STANDARDS. Oversee compliance with the rules, house rules, this code of conduct and other standards.
